TEACHERS AND PARENTS: Who are the major instrument for the success of students?

There are a ton of notable individuals in a kid's life, yet none more so than their folks. Guardians are the first and most significant teachers in a youngster's life. They are the ones that establish the groundwork for their schooling. Educators might go back and forth, however guardians are dependably there. That is the reason guardians are a higher priority than educators in a youngster's schooling. There's no rejecting that educators assume a significant part in a youngster's schooling. They are the ones who give the guidance and direction that helps youngsters learn and develop. Notwithstanding, there is one individual who is much more significant than educators with regards to a kid's schooling - their parent. Guardians are the main teachers of their youngsters. From the second they are conceived, guardians begin showing their kids their general surroundings. They impart values and convictions in their youngsters that will remain with them forever. Th...

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19 EXPERIENCE from 2 students in a high school!

        *COVID-19*

"Corona virus, the father of all pandemics,

It was the worst,

It was unpredictable,

It was terrible.

Many lives lost,

Many bodies buried.

To stay indoors was a must.

We didn't know who to trust.

We all feared for our lives,

The days passed by.

Days turned into weeks,

Weeks into months.

Although it drew families closer,

But drew friends apart.

Going out was a sin,

Unless you wear a mask that can be thrown in the bin.

It looked like the world was coming to an end,

Nobody knew where this was heading.

Everyone was surrounded by fear.

Corona virus, oh Corona virus,

We didn't see you coming,

When will you go?

We miss the days when we would go out without masks,

We miss the days when we could talk without being meters apart.

Thousands of people have died,

Yet no cure has been.

You spread like a wild fire,

Yet no cure has been found.

Why do you have to be so deadly?

Our people are suffering,

Yet you are still spreading.

Corona virus, oh corona virus

We miss the good old days.

I wish you were gone,

Do that we will continue to have fun." - Arafat Isa-olatinwo (Year 11D).

*MY COVID-19 EXPERIENCE*

★★★★★★★★★★

"My COVID-19 experience was not much of a thrilling or tragic one. When I first heard about COVID-19, it was something I didn't take to heart, because it is common knowledge that corona virus originated from Wuhan, China. Therefore, this didn't come off as a terrible news to me.

Eventually, I carried on with my day-to-day routine as I kept up with the numbers increasing drastically on the TV screen while my mum and I watched the regular 8 o'clock news. The virus was spreading to other countries, even other continents, but it hadn't reached Africa yet, so it still don't come off as a shock to me.

Unfortunately, the virus had reached Africa soon enough. If I can recall properly, one of the first African countries to have a COVID-19 case was South Africa. I was a little bit worried, but I wasn't too shaken up. Though I still prayed in solidarity for our fellow Africans, and also prayed for the virus not to get to any other country, especially Nigeria.

Sadly, I woke up on a faithful Friday morning to very bad news. It was everywhere; on the news, social media, in the newspaper even. It said: 'FIRST CASE OF COVID-19 IN NIGERIA'. Everyone I knew was saddened by the news. Eventually, there were official statements, saying that the case was under control, and there was nothing to really worry about. I wasn't really convinced actually, because everyone already knows that the virus spreads like wildfire. Eventually, the case was downplayed and I resumed school for my 2nd term of Year 11 (SSS2). This did not last for long however, because my school had to shutdown rather quickly, and during the middle of an exam too. On that faithful day, I had never seen my school cleared so quickly. Parents hastened to pick up their children, and children hastened to pack their suitcases.

Eventually, after about 2 weeks of lazing around at home, we were able to start up online classes. Our teachers tried their very best, but honestly, these classes were quite hard to keep up with. I also tried my best to pick up some new habits and keep healthy during the 7-months long holiday.

During the COVID-19 holiday, I wasn't allowed to step out of the house because the virus was spreading like wildfire in Nigeria. The cases increased continuously every day, and more people were dying and while some recovered.

What made it worse were the different conspiracy theories like 'COVID-19 isn't real,' or 'The virus is man-made'. Many people, mostly uneducated people, supported these views and I believe that was one of the factors that made the number of cases spike, especially when people absolutely refused to wear their masks properly. Eventually, awareness of the virus was widely listened to and gradually, the conspiracy theories were discarded.

After a very long holiday that began at the tail end of the month of March, till 18th October 2020 when we were finally able to resume school. It is not exactly easy adjusting to the new life COVID-19 has brought to us, especially after being at home for 7 months, but eventually we will come through". → Tasleemah Amusan (Year 12A).

So touching and enlightening, for a moment i dropped a tear especially after remembering the rough times i went through in masking up, social distancing, washing of hands all the time.
Now i can confidently say we won the battle despite having lost our loved ones and medical front liners who risked their lives just to save humanity from dying.
